The Palestinian kitchen is extremely vegan friendly. This is the kind of book I have been waiting for for a long time. It curates some of my favorite Palestinian dishes in their vegan version - mansaf, kunafeh etc. I made the mansaf (sans the yogurt this time around), and it's a delight. I am sure to explore every single recipe in this book over and over. Thank you Kifah.
Wonderful and full of optimism. The recipes are delicious -- but not less important is the drive for this book. Ms. Dasuki is a talented writer and a cook, and a true believer in our ability to make this world a better place for humans and animals. And have fun while doing so.
I bought this book basing on a warm recommendation, and also because I wanted to be a part of this beautiful project.I am an Israeli, yet in the past couple of years I'm living outside of it.Living outside of Israel has its perks, but one of the major shortcomings - very hard to find high-quality tasty food from my region.So, going through the pages wasn't easy for me :) Terrible cravings...The book is neatly divided into 3 sections, basing on different stages in Kifah's life, and each section is full of its own set ofmouth-watering tempting recipes — I don't do much cooking, but some of the recipes in there had me reconsidering.I'll prob go hunt for a middle eastern grocery store in my residential area (At the moment in the Philippines), and see what I can fish there :)So... I really can't give a higher recommendation!Great book, awesome recipes - even if you're not vegan (I'm not...) - and a beautiful project,with a strong message which I support in with all my heart.And as a Jewish Israeli, I wish loads of success to Kifah — Her victory is also mine.
Very special book, not only bringing peace to animals but also between Arabs and Jews. The book, written by an Arab-Israeli, was originally published with both Arabic and Hebrew recipes, bringing the wonders of the Arab cuisine, adapted to Veganism, to the hearts of all people who hope for a better world.
This is a wonderful book, by a great woman. The book represents the wonderful Israeli-Arab kitchen and only the vegan aspect of it. Our hope is that it will be the "One swallow that does make a summer" and will bring about peace and tranquility to the region.
Wonderful classic recipes that are well explained and accessible to the novice of this cuisine. I look forward to using it often!
I'm really excited about the recipes in this book! I've tried a couple and am not disappointed. Looking forward to trying more of them!
My only complaint is that it is NOT COMPATIBLE for all Kindle readers, only the Kindle Fire or alternatively, it can only be used on the computer/tablet/iPad IF you have the Kindle app/program installed. I have suggested that Amazon mention it more clearly on their website in order to get noticed.I still have to try the book but I don't want to put my laptop next to the stove. I think the book could be a seller if only it was properly set up for Kindle reading; at the moment it seems like it is a scan only. I wish I could get it in .PDF format, then I would send it to Amazon to convert (pictures are not essential for cooking the recipes).Anyway, I'm dying to try out some of the recipes; I know that Arab cuisine has a vast amount of amazing salads, mostly vegan to my knowledge. I wish I could just print a page :(
