After seeing Commander Karter in several books and watching him interact with Dara (Chloe, Seth, and Dorian's daughter), we have begged Grace for him to get a mate and she answered us with this great story.(To understand my review, I just want to put it out there, I read for story and could care less about the sexy times)This story drops us right into the middle of the Hive war, as mentioned in the previous books, the Battlegroup Karter is actively holding back the Hive in sector 437. Karter was tested years and years ago and has been too busy to have any thoughts of a bride. Ronan is also a Commander and is just as intense as Karter due to the heavy weight of responsibility demanded by their positions. Erica has always loved the stars and jumped at her chance to be among them, especially after her testing as part of a Prillon sandwich (her words, not mine).This story is told from all three POV and we get to see just how tortured Karter is and how much weight is on his very broad shoulders. I really loved Karter and Ronan and even though Erica is just a feisty as the other Interstellar Brides, I guess I just wasn't as impressed with her as I was with the other brides - she does love both of them and fights for a true mating but that's about it. BUT, Karter and Ronan make up for any deficiencies I felt Erica had. The new development in the war is a major game changer and the Coalition is going to have their hands full dealing with it.I love this series and while I have received advanced copies of these books (yes, I joined Grace's review team to get my hands on these books as soon as possible), I have purchased every single one. Purchasing these books and writing reviews so that others have a chance to discover this talented author's work is my way of supporting her and my habit :)EDIT: sign up for the author's newsletter - you'll be glad you did :)
This book is full of emotion, an intense battle, plenty of steam, a strong willed woman who won't settle for anything less than she deserves and the connection that the Prillon mates all have with each other. This book will make you smile and laugh, put you on edge, perhaps shed a tear or two and leave you feeling good. I went through the entire gamut of emotions and LOVED the story. When you finish the book, you HAVE to go to Grace Goodwin's home page and read the bonus epilogue. It is priceless.
At last, the infamous Commander Karter meets his match, and she is up to the challenge! Or should that be, HE is up to the challenge? I have been waiting for Commander Matter to get his HEA ever since Chloe and Seth Miller's book. You gotta love a big tough guy that turns into a marshmallow around little ones. Erica arrives to meet her mates in the midst of chaos, the aftermath of a devastating Hive attack, and badass Earther that she is, she dives right in to help. I love a strong female heroin! Erica is a nice change, because she is not military, nor anything that you would expect to be so tough, she's an astronomer of all things. I really liked Ronan, the I.C. commander , who is Karter's best friend and Second. And we get to catch up with all kinds of old friends in this book as well. There is a really sweet scene with Seth, which I was excited about because he is one of my all time favorite characters. I really like that this series has portrayed Earthers as tough, valuable fighters in the war against the Hive, especially since they are so much smaller than the other races. And also to see the alien races who shelter their own females so much come to accept and respect women in the rolls of soldiers and military leadership, as well as covert operations. But to get back on track as far as this particular book goes, I definitely recommend it! I think this might end up being one of my favorites of this series.
I've read majority of this series and always look forward to a new book. This book was no exception and I was not disappointed. You don't have to read these books in order to enjoy the story. I love how the guys always underestimate the Earth women in these stories and chuckle at the Earth/American slang used and it's not understood.Now I'll patiently wait for the next installment.
I have been waiting for Commander Karter to get a bride and i was sure not disappointed. I was however, shocked that he didnt break with Prillion tradition and not have a second, since he never had seemed to be close to another Prillion in any of his other appearances. Erica is most certainly the perfect bride choice for such a strong man as the Commander. What a great and exciting read!
I love Grace Goodwins books and she did not disappoint. The book started a little different than her other Interstellar Bride books but it was still great reading. I read for escapism and she delivers.Story 5/5Steam 5/5Overall 5/5
I loved this book and look forward to the next one in this series. Love this author, her books are all a must read.
As always Ms Goodwin has written another great book. Could she be an interesting Alien?. Hmmmm makes you wonder with all that she knows about them, their habits, likes and dislikes. Not many human men care about their mates to be that giving.....
